Do the radio unit it selv turn off, or are you just loosing the signal ?
Check the connections to the radio unit, and also the antenna.

no the raio unit itself doesnt turn off, i would grom hearing my favorite tune to static...u may be right, it may be the antenna but i want to make sure before i go tinckerin around there. is this a common problem?
The antenna cable on the back of the radio player can be just connected bad, it's alot of little things that can cause this.
The antenna cable itself can be damaged and only lead signals good from time to time.

My AM gets terrible reception but I get great FM - I'm thinking I need to pull it out to look at the connections in my 2002 325i. Bought it used - upgraded radio / system Karmen.... any ideas, suggestions on removal?
