I just got a 2008 E60 535i with the premium package and the sport package. I absolutely LOVE this ride. It has 99k miles and I had it checked out by the dealer and it is rock solid (besides the ole carbon buildup on the intake valves) and has had all maintenance done since day one by the dealer. I want to add some VRM 701 wheels. I have a question about the size rims I need. Mine has 18" rims now (see pic) but I want to upgrade to 19" rims. I have a few questions if you dont mine indulging a newbie (Ive actually owned 5 BMWs in my lifetime and my sons and my mom drive Bimmers). Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated and thank you for this forum...its AWESOME !!!!

My tire sizes I have now are below. For some reason it came with brand new tires but two different brands. see below:

Front: BF Goodrich 245 / 40zr18 93w

Rear: Yokohama 275 / 35r18 95w

Questions:

1) If I move up to a 19" rim, will I have plenty of clearance ??
2) What size rims do I need for the front and back ?? Width, offset, or any additional info I need ??
3) Give me some tire ideas for front and rear (type, sizes, etc.). I am assuming that if I move up to a 19" rim I have to go low profile more than it is now, so give me some good ideas.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

You should be able to run the following set-up with no issues:
Front: 19x8.5 with 245/35-19 || Rear: 19x9.5 with 275/30-19. OR 19x9.0 with 255/35-19 || Rear: 19x10.0 with 285/30-19.

There are a lot of options for E60, but the 19x8.5 with 245's and 19x9.5 with 275's are the most common.
However you can go up to 20's or even 21's and with much wider rims and tires. Just make sure the your offset is in range:
If your E60 is RWD, the offset should be - Front: 10-25mm, Rear: 15-25mm
If your E60 is AWD, the offset should be - Front & Rear: 35-45mm

I prefer 19's, as they are not as heavy as 20's or 21's. But I have E39, which is smaller than E60.

E39 stock was - Front: 18x8.0 - 245x40x18 - 20MM / Rear: 18x9.5 - 275x30x18 - 20MM. I had upgraded to 19x8.5 - 255x35x19 - 18MM / Rear: 19x10.0 - 285x30x19 - 22.5MM. My car is lowered about 3 inches in the front and about 2.5 in the rear and I can still fly on the highway with 5 people. I had attached a picture to give you an idea.

Good luck.
