Cool Please help, Camshaft position sensor check engine light on

hi

1997 BMW 528i

For some strange reason my check engine light turned on after I pump the gas. I checked the gas cap a few times and it is not the problem.
I go to Autozone to have the Check Engine light diagnosed and its read the code to the Camshaft Position sensor malfunction.

Does anyone have the Repair manual where it is?
Do you know what does this sensor do?
Can I just have the code erase to turn off the Check Engine Light?
Where is the best place to get deal on this sensor?

Please help anyone?
