Perfume like smell from 2001 525i

Whenever the ventilation fan runs, a there is a persistant perfume-like smell to the outgoing air. This happens whether running the a/c or not. I bought the car used recently, replacing an older 325, and it is still under warranty.

for now Try to examine your Charc. filters. I seen some guys placing or spraying Air freshners in them. You have two of them on the right and the left sides corners of the back of your engine. Are they clean and new? If the anwer is no then: The next step will be to check the housing under the dash for unwanted buildups and mildew. If thats the case you may want to consider a cleanup or a housing vacuum which involves some drilling. It is sealed!
