First off, thanks for opening this thread I have had this car for about two years and have put 100k on it. Now I'm ready to change the experience(getting bored). I'm active duty Coast Guard, don't have much cash to spend for instance turbo kits or super charger kits. Does anyone have ideas how to achieve higher horses and torque? used:
PS: she has 236k miles on her, so I'm open to warranty voiding mods. She had a head and valve job done around 195k also.
Without going with a supercharger or turbo kit, the 525 isn't really going to move. You may notice a LITTLE difference with a chip, intake and exhaust combo - but it won't be too great. You can also try a cam kit for that engine, supposedly that brings in the highest hp per $ on these engines, but can cost close to $1,000 + installation unless you can do it yourself.
i would just save the money and trade it in for a bigger engine car like the 530i or 540 V8.
but im sure it has sentimental value so i would go with the cam kit like sporky said.
BAV Auto ( www.bavauto.com ) makes some performace coils that is suposed to increase a ton of horsepower, but i dont know about it would effect the gas milage.
