Performance package? Sport package? What are these?

I have a chance to purchase a 2002 525i which is advertised as having the sports and performance package. Try as I might, I can't get a good answer as to what these packages contain? Anyone got an idea?

Typically, the sports package includes stuff like a lowered and stiffened suspension, upgraded (+1) wheels and tires, and it might contain some other goodies.
What you can do to get a better idea is go to BMW North America and "build your own" 5 series and click the box that says sports package. It should give you a rundown of the individual pieces that might comprise the sports package. I'm not aware that the 5 series came with a "performance" package (ZHP). That has typically been held for the 3 series.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm going off memory here.

The sport package entails sport-tuned suspension, sport seats, three-spoke steering wheel, black body trim (as opposed to chrome), bigger wheels/tires, and (maybe) a few ///M badges here and there.

There was no performance package for the 5 Series. Ask the seller is he or she meant "premium package," which is a bundle of luxury options that saves the buyer money when compared to getting each option individually: leather seating, power memory seats, and sometimes things like integrated garage opener and auto-dimming mirrors, but the latter two seem to have come to the lineup more recently.

The only "performance package" from BMW was for the mid-2003 through 2005 330i sedan, and the 2004-2006 330Ci coupes and convertibles.
