So as I was following a car last night i noticed one side of my halo lights were not working, no big deal. But when I got home to investigate I also noticed the corner amber light was out on the driver side no big deal right, get a new bulb. So I went to a local import shop to see about getting bulbs. They put an amber bulb in and still didnt work. He said there may be a fuse which sounded odd as i thought a fuse would be for all parking lights and not just some. Anyway so I get home and pull out both amber lights and swap em. The driver bulb works in passenger socket, passenger bulb does not work in driver side. There is no corrosion on the terminals. So now I know its not the bulbs. So I figure the guy may be right about the fuse... I could not find a fuse specifically for the driver side parking/turn signal lamp. I looked in the trunk and in the glove box.
Anyway I figured I would post up here to see if you guys had any ideas. 2001 530i. Also maybe you guys know where to get halo bulbs as they were $50 at this place lol... I would disconnect the other side before i paid that much for a bulb lol.
Ok so I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and told him about it. He referred me to a guy to do a quick look over. The guy said it was apparent that it was not broken wires as the blinker works and it was probably a lighting control computer... anyone ever hear of one of these?
Has the actual wire to the light been confirmed with power? I would think any "computer" would control both halos, and not really effect the amber light.
The Halos are fine that one is just a blown bulb. Its the driver side corner lamp that is the issue. It has the dim and bright modes.. bright for blinker, dim for parking. The dim is what is not working. It only has 2 wires going to it and since the blinker works.. the wires are not broken and should be fine.. maybe lol
If the angel eye is burnt out then the light control module will light up the dim orange bulb only when the parking lights are on without the headlights. Once the headlights are on then the orange light will go back out. The light control module only does this to compensate for the angel eyes. The angel eye bulbs also light up a small spot on the side of the headlight for DOT purposes via fiber optics like the angel eyes.
You can either buy the whole angel eye assembly bulb for a lot of money or find a place that sells an osram 64113 bulb and take apart the angel eye assembly and just replace the bulb.
