Parking brake is very loose and doesnt work

Parking Brake in my 2004 530I is very loose and does not work. How can I fix it?

Try tightening the nut on the emergency brake handle. that would be my first step. if that doesn't work then i would check the cables.

make sure the cable is connected at the back of the emergency brake. this involves loosening the center console. you will be able to see them once you loosen the bolts and lift up on the back of the console.
