Materials:
-Masking tape
-8 mm wrench
-Transparent Candy Apple Red paint (can be obtained from the local supermarket -- it's in the model cars section)
- Clear coat
Total cost 3.50.
You take the thing out, wash it, let it dry off, put masking tape around seals. Then just lay it on a flat surface and spray 4-5 light layers of paint. Let that paint dry for a few minutes and spray over with 2 layers of clear coat. When dry, just put it back in place.
Real quick writeup in case someone wants to know how I did it. :nana
I've heard of this done before but i havent seen it.. Does it look pretty 'jerry-rigged' up close?? Also, did you spray all three sections of it or just the orange?? I really want to get rid of the oragne because it matches NOTHING on my car.. Thanks!
I just sprayed the orange. You can sort of see that it's not completely smooth when you get close to it... from 2 feet back you could never recognize it was painted unless you knew.

I don't think when warning colours were chosen for the important jobs of indicating direction (Orange) or Braking (Red) co-ordination with the rest of the car was a priority!!!
PS do they really allow you to drive around with red indicators (legally) over there??
I have the same style on my car. With a light enough coat, the lights will still flash amber.
However, look at the back of a caddy. They don't have amber flashers, but red. Amber flashers are required up front and on the side (if equipped). Rear flashers need not be amber.
