Overheating and non tickover troubles

Hi all,
first time on and wondering if i can get some help.
my engine overheats and engine dies after starting, i got a 98' 520i auto
fairly sure this is not a head issue as oil looks fine, exhaust ok etc
is this a radiator issue maybe blockage or needs flushing? has anyone got any helpful knowledge on this matter maybe a link or a talkthru on issue.

i think you have separate issues...

engine dies after starting:
1)when it dies, does it start right up after???
2) when it dies... does it kinda' gurgle??.. or is it a sudden cut-off?

no noises sounds fine and will start up again no trouble

check fuel filter and fuel pressure.
