oil changes

is it true that you can get oil changes every 15,000 miles?

nope... 15,000 is pushing it.

the standard is 3,000miles for single grade oils; and, up to 5,000miles for multi-grade oil.

i called my local bmw dealership, and that is what i was told by them.

There is an oil I use, and have used in all my vehicles!
It is AMSOIL, it cost over $7.00 a quart, a filter for $15.00,
and you can get appoox. 25000 miles per change. This, I think is
the first synthetic oil on the market. This is A-one stuff.
Go to the site, amsoil.com amd read up on it for yourself.
They have a place there where you can enter your cars year,make,
and model,and it will give you a list of everything, from spark plugs
to oil filter and more. It has a different oil for European cars.
I sometimes go on ebay to see if there is some there.

If youuse sythetic you should be able to go 5-7 shouldnt you? That is if you do only highway miles?

Or so i read somewhere?

I still do 4k oil changes on fully synthetic.

you read correct :-)

the use of polymers in multi-grade oils & in synthetics make the viscosities more stable through higher heat ranges, and therefore extend the useful life of the lubricant.
