I recently purchased a 1987 535i for $1,350.00. and remarkably, it runs like a charm. However, like with any car, there are a couple of things that need fixing. One problem is that the odometer doesn't work. Is the odometer on this model a mechanical/cable type, or just cable driven? It doesn't sound like the sort of thing I would be comfortable replacing myself. All I can find is this web address,

but all they have are 3 Series replacements. First of all, which type do I need, and where could I possibly find them? If I do order the right part or gear, I would probably just pay someone to do it .
