I finally had my cracked head repaired and the car is still showing problems. The idle is horrible and the pcv valve and hose were changed. The check engine light is on, so I pulled the codes, and it says half my cylinders are misfiring, and something about banks 1 and 2. On top of all this, my fuel consumption right now is a joke. This thing is literally drinking gas. My mechanic says it must be the o2 sensors must have gone bad, and quoted a price of $320 to replace them. I did some online research and figured that this is a DIY job. The only thing is, I cant seem to locate where the o2 sensors are. Can someone steer me in the right direction? (the use of pictures would be great here) Also if anyone has an opinions as to what proactive steps I can take next, I'd highly appreciate it.
hmmm, question: I thought there were 4 o2 sensors. 2 in the back (post cats) and 2 in the front (pre cats). I think the post cats are in the exhaust if im not mistaken, and the pre's are somewhere near the engine. How do I know which ones I need to change. And it's the one's that are presumably near the engine that I am in search of.
