Noise when braking

so my parents just bought a 2003 525i (E39?) and it's so awesome! our first BMW too

...but...I noticed that when braking at low speeds there's this sort of stuttering, grinding noise. is this normal or might something be wrong? it works fine when it's on the street or the freeway, but when we back out of the garage and such, it starts with the noise again.

Get it checked............Brakes are everything.
Could be a cracked rotor,or even something funny with the clips holding the disc pads in the caliper housing ?
Dont delay.........get it sorted.

ahh some brakes will make a squeak noise or grind noise when the rotors are cold and high humidity but once driving the noise will disappear. My opinion is not to worry about it unless it does it all the time.
