I have a BMW 1990 525i done 174,000 miles was going along fine untill last weekend. Sunday park the thing up all working fine. Mon I come out and no power to leccy doors, windows seats, interior lights (on door switch fine on permanent switch), no computer or radio (original) either!
The ironic thing is that it starts and runs with working headlights and indicators it does run very rough! and struggle to accelerate smothly since this. I have checked the fuse box under the bonnet and the ones under the rear seat but dont know how to check the relays. If there have been two identical i have swapped them over then back just them for any changes. But no difference.
Is there a general cut out switch which needs to be reset or similar? I am stumped now! This is my only transport and desparately in need of it working/properly.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated this is a headache!
Ok panic over found it, still good for reference though! If you have total electric failure but can still start your car! Check the "fusable link" next to in the black box in line on your positive cable just next to your battery, undo the 10mm bolts and take the fuse out (after disconecting the pos off the battery) like I had to just to find the break. Dont rely on just a quick visual check.
