new toy - 92 525i , a few issues, help please!

hello,
i just got a "new" toy that i'm not familiar yet with.
it's a 92 525i and i've got a few issues with
1 . is it normal that the defogging windshield blows only hot air regardless the settings on the temperature adjusting knobs
2. the cruise control is not working when just using the lever..is there another button that i have to activate the cruise ?

Sorry I can't help you with the questions, although I'd expect both these questions to be addressed in the owners manual (if you still have it)

thanks for replay,
i have got the owner's manual too but not to many details either for defogging or cruise.
and..i'm up in Toronto don't have a garage and the weather doesn't help working to much outside so i'm looking to get as much info so i dont have to dig to much... i would mind if summer outside
