Hello everyone! I've recently purchased a 98 528i w/90k miles. It runs great, and evrything checks out ok, according to my mechanic. It so much BETTER then my other BMW 94 318i. The only upgrades i've done so far is putting 18" M5 Rep. Rims on toyo's 245/40/18, clear side markers, and clear tail lights.
Next mod is to lower my car, and temporarily get smoked clear head light lenses. Xenon Angel Eyes, are kind of out of my budget right now.
So what do you guys think of my new ride? any suggestions on how to make it look better and run better is greatly appreciated!!!
To answer your question, there's probably a higher selection of aftermarket stuff for the E39 than just about any other car, except for maybe the E46 and Honda Civics. Have fun larning and planning your mods, but in my case I spent so much on maintenance and repair I had v.little money left over for mods!
Some tips:
- M5 rear sway bar. Cheap (about $120), will fit a 528 (front one won't). Dealer-only item.
- Hella Celis tails (duplicate of 2001+ tails, but comes in a kit for 1997-2000 E39's). I love mine. Check out my photos on my gallery.
- Get your windows tinted if they aren't already. Especially with black paint like you have.
- Join the BMW CCA (car club of America). Get a great monthly magazine, a network of experts to consult with, and in my case a discount of 20% on parts and 15% on labor at my local dealer. I was amazed at how many things (not ALL) ended up being cheaper from my dealer this way.

Thank you for the comps Eric. Your car looks very awesome! My back windows are tinted, but I will have them redone including the front windows to medium tint. Also, I am looking to lower my car asap. Thanks again!
