new motor mount?

I was driving my 97 528i E39,I was on my way back home doing around 65mph i started hearing a chopping sound kind of like a helicopter blade I then pulled over and raised the hood to see what the heck is going on(nothing). So I drove off the noise stopped when I let up of the accelorator so only when i go 40mph or higher the noise comes back I slowly drove home and called my mechanic he said it sounds like the motor mount went bad and that caused the fan to rub.Has anyone else had or heard of this sort of issue?...please let me know

Check out the viscous coupling, sounds more like it.

I think he's correct. Had a similar problem with my '99 328i and new mounts solved it. Do quickly as moter mount problems can get worse and dangerous.
Good luck.
