Well, it's actually an old key that hasn't been used in so long the battery in the 'fob' went dead. Drove around for a while using that key (since it recharges the battery while in the ignition), but the keyless entry isn't working.
I know there is a procedure to get the car to recognize a new key fob, can anyone tell me what it is?
If it is a dead battery, does anyone have a part number (or can I get one at wal-mart?)
take it to a bmw dealership. they will do it for free. they did for me anyway...
This feature begain with model year 2000. the 'underprivileged' like you and I must bear the burden of an uglier key and of replacing a $2.99 battery every 2 years...
