I just picked up a clean 04 530i this week. First BMW for me (I've owned a couple MBs and a lot of Honda/Acuras). I hope the E60 brings me years of enjoyment.
My only question at this stage is how to connect my iPod. I have the in-dash 6-disc changer (no trunk changer) and my regular installer said he's tried twice to connect ipod adapters to the 04 models and couldn't get them to work. After doing a little bit of homework (seeing what is being sold on ebay--all the kits say they don't work on the 04s), I'm asking the experts . . . you.
I called my BMW dealer and they said they stock a kit--$299 + $150 install.
Is there anything else out there (aside from FM modulators, which I hate) that will work on the 04 E60?
Thanks in advance, and congratulate me . . .check out my ride.
Welcome Congratulations on teh new ride, and click on the link Teh Prof provided...
Yeah, I did. Is this the same kit that my local dealer sells (I wonder)? It's the same price; and, that link stated that I HAVE to get it installed at the dealer. I think it requires some kind of stereo re-programming that only the dealer can do.

It's unlikely that it's the same kit, but possible. And yes, I wouldn't be too surprised if it required some reprogramming on a car as electronically complicated as the E60.
