Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 1989 BMW 525i. it has 140,000 miles on it and is in pretty darn good condition other than that it has some very minor front end damage (very tip of hood has a few small dents and the bottom portion of the front bumper cover where the right fog light goes is broken) and needs a muffler. It was a trade in vehicle and the Chevy dealer gave the lady $800 dollars for it on trade, and sold it to me for $900. The car runs and drives very nice and has absolutely no rust on it at all and the paint is still like new and it has new tires. I Kelly Blue booked the car and it said the private party value was $3000.

What are some things I should be aware of with this model? are there any potential or reoccuring mechanical problems I should be aware of? How many quarts of oil does it take? Where is the best place to get used parts for this model? I live in Northern Minnesota and theres not too many BMW's around here. any info on what type of maintanence I should be aware of would be great.
Thanks

Tyler

You have found an awesome awesome deal assuming the car is in good running condition. wow. lucky

there aren't too many major problems with it, other than the muffler... it has weak thrust arms and bushings that will cause your car to do a little shimmy at 55mph and go away at 60mph, no big deal... can be fixed relatively cheap by putting on the parts from a e32 750iL.

there are a few electronic issues, like the gauges will start to burn lights out or become erratic, but that is also easily fixed if your not afraid of a little DIY.

pretty much every question you need answered should be able to be found here : http://www.bmwe34.net

enjoy your car! looks great and awesome deal!!

oh btw..
