New Battery For E34 1996 520 Touring (uk)

Hi all,

I am new to the forum after one of my friends recommended it to me......

My 1996 520 touring (E34 UK model) has a tired battery (under back seat), does anyone know what the specification of this battery is (cranking output, dimensions, etc) ?

Is there a part number for this item ? Where is the best place to get one in the UK ? I am sure that the official BMW part is very expensive.......

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah Halfords is always a last resort, but I would prefer to get a good branded battery.

A lot of the Halfords stuff is remanufactured and the last thing I want to pay £60 for a reconditioned battery when I can probably get the right Bosch one for a similar amount.

Does anyone know the cranking ampage of the battery and it's dimensions/part number ?

I'm pretty sure Halfords do branded batteries too, and I doubt that they sell reconditioned units as brand new - that's illegal.

Theoretically if you take the battery out of your car it should tell you all you need to know on the label + the use of a ruler will tell you it's dimensions.

If you ring BMW they will happily tell you the part number.
