Okay, I need to replace my upper and lower control arms on both sides. Any suggestions on upgrades? Anything else I should upgrade while I am replacing the control arms?
Replace the rubber bushings too. usually new control arms come with them though. have someone help you though cuz doin it by urself can be a bear. maybe change motor mounts and transmision mounts while the car is apart? just a sugestion

I bought it for $36K, it is a 2001, which seemed like a good deal considering it had only 37K miles on it and quite a bit of the Dinan mods, but...I need to replace the transmission in the near future and the now the control arms. It gets quite expensive for the parts. The prior 2 owners drove the piss out of the car which I didn't know. Are you thinking about buying one?
yeah im thinking about trading my e34 540i with a newer e39 540i only becasue of the looks and luxery of the new model.......u bought it with Dinan mods? you have a very nice car on your hands. i bet it hauls ass. beats all those ricers thats for sure.
My car has stage 1 Dinan Engine mods, CAI, throttle body, flow meter, software, and remus exhaust. All in all, it probable has about 315 horse power, plus I have a light weight flywheel also. I fixed the control arms yesterday, they just needed to be tightened.
I would whole heartedly recommend the E39 540i, I love the looks and style. I had my heart set on M5 E39, but it was out of my price range. But like anything, the 540i maintenance can be expensive especially if you can't do some things yourself.
I have attached some pics of my car, enjoy. I plan to buy some wheels and coilovers after the wedding and taking care of the transmission.
If you are ever in Seattle, you are more then welcome to drive mine .
nice pics! did the strut bar come with the dinan stage one mods or did you put that on sepreate?
Added it separately. I didn't do the intake manifold or the stage 5 software. Maybe after the coilovers and wheels, I will do the manifold, software and headers or just save for the M5, .
I just recently changed all of the lights on the front end which make the car look so much better IMO.
Beautiful ride pamato...looks familiar. I'm curious as to how it sounds with the remus exhaust. I was looking to update my exhaust and wanted to get some opinions about what was best.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the compliment. I love the Remus exhaust, it is more affordable than the Dinan and it sounds just as good with the small increase in HP. It is sedate at idle, until you get on the throttle. When you are in its power band, it is very throaty. I would most definitely recommend it. Now, if I had the $$$ and the desire to remove my spare tire, I would get a Tubi exhaust. Check out www.beastpower.com. They have sound bites of the tubi exhaust, supersprint and some others. Prior to my camera being stolen, I had a videorecorder, which would have been awesome to record the sound for you. I will try and borrow my buddies camera.
