I thought the nozzle was clog or the fluid was low, so i check it all out and the fluid is full and the nozzle looks fine..is there a fuse i should be looking for? or is there anyway i can see if the pump is working or not? it's a 98 528i.
You should be able to hear the pump working. Open the hood and have someone activate the washer - the pump is in the resevoir.
I cleaned out my nozzles today on my 91 535i. They were pretty plugged up. I took them completely off and soaked them in Lime-Away for a while. Then I completely took apart the nozzle assembly (very easy to do) and cleaned the inside - take a sewing needle and poke it through from the outside of the nozzle. If you have the heated ones like I do, be careful when you take it apart. There are two little round metal disks that make contact with the wiring (I guess those are the heaters). There are also little spring loaded rubber check valves inside. Mine were pretty nasty on the inside.
While you have the nozzles off, activate the washer and see if fluid squirts out the end of the hoses. If not - then the pump is not working. So it could be a bad pump or blown fuse.
Ok my car is a 97 528i..i thought i came across somewhere saying to check fuse number 2 and 4 in the glove compartment. I did,but there is no fuse on #2. but all the fuse are good. And i put in a fuse in #2 and still nothing, i guess it might be the pump then.
I have a 91 320i and I am getting nothing as well when I activate my washer fluid, I am not sure where the fuse would be since its all in German, hahaha. I guess from what my friend said I have a 5 series pump on there now, could that be the problem I mean would it not supply the same power as a 5 series. I have to get this issued resolved they are super picky here in Germany when you go through inspection.
