Im looking at a 95 525i that got hit in the rear end, Not real hard though, the PO had the car in the body shop and now that its done the trans has problems. you can drive the car three blocks then it acks like it goes in to somekinda safe mode or something wont let the car shift out of 1st gear. the guy wants 5000 for the car and it only has 50,000 miles on it and looks beautiful any ideas on what is wrong with it? I was thinking maybe a crash sensor not even sure if it has one though. Any help would be great.

RWD transmissions are often seriously damaged after a rear end impact. It could be anything from a broken hard part to a slipping clutch. Theres a 90% chance that the transmission will have to be replaced.
You can find a shop to do a trans in that car with warranty for about 2k - 2.5k
If you called around and could find prices like that in your area and go the car for maybe 3800-4k, if it truly does only have 50,000 miles and has no frame damage and is 100% properly repaied, you will still end up with a great car at a decent price. Thats excellent mileage.
