Need help identifying a hanging wire under front right.

Today I noticed a two wires going into a male connector hanging below the corner lamp.
They are blue. One with a brown stripe, the other a red stripe.
I looked around and could not find the female in that corner.

It is a '98. Reading a similar post in the 3 forum indicates temp sensor

this may be it since I have the -40c on the dash (similar to the 3 series post)
