I currently have an '87 325e, and am going to get a newer BMW hopefully very soon!

My two leading candidates are a '97 328i with 78,000 miles or a '99 528i with 82,000 miles.

Does anyone have any advice between the two? Anything to look for before I buy one of them?? Thanks for your help!!

Also, if anyone can run a Carfax report for me, please let me know!

The ideal answer is both, but I obviously know each car has its benefits and drawbacks.

I havent driven either of them yet, so I am just looking for advice about performance differences between the two, reliability, etc. I appreciate everyones help, just want to make the best decision!

Thanks for everyones help! I would prefer the handling and accelation of the 328, but it is always nice to have more room in the car if you are driving others around.

The thing that is keeping me interested in the 528 is it is located a LOT closer than the 328, and I could get it for an awesome price. Probably 7 grand less than Kelly Blue Book price...

hi, thanks a lot for the info.. thats a pretty shady history.. but i might be buying for really cheap.. and mostly for the interior and just misc. parts. so to pretty much use it as a parts car. Thanks a lot!
