Was driving in downtown Charleston yesterday. Hit a manhole cover and immediately have to hit the brakes to avoid a stopped car. Was going about 25 mph and noticed that while braking the car began to buck. Seems as if the front wheels were locked up and skipping across the pavement. Any ideas what this may be?
Just for your info - ABS brakes hard until sensors feel the wheel lock, then it backs off a little to allow the wheel to spin again, then brakes hard again until it feels a lock etc. etc. etc.
The first time I ever felt ABS kick in I thought something was wrong with the car.

good cold cuts though.... mmm...
iv done the 4 wheel lock up, with the back end coming out because an ethnic in a honda decided instead of passing a car (that was turning left) on the right, he would pull up next to it. and stop.
