Today I was traveling from St. Louis to Illinois and just as I crossed the bridge into beautiful ( ) East St. Louis a truck hit and flung a construction barrel my way. I flew over to the left to avoid it hitting me straight on but still collided with it on the far right side of the bumper. The barrel got stuck under the lip and finally fell under the car. However it drug along with it the bottom engine cover, temperature sensor cover, wheel-well cover, and entire right fog light assembly...(including the frame.) All that was left was the temp sensor itself and the wires to the fog light. The bumper is cracked (visibly) on the right front spoiler, and is cracked somewhat (not broken off) for the entire width of the bumper. In any case a new bumper has already been ordered and will be on by Labor day. Until then I'll be driving my injured 5er.
Just to mention this is just the next in a long line of problems lately.
- GPS Failed
- Subwoofer (DSP) fried
- Ignition Switch fried
- DVD Player messing up
...and all of this has been within the last month....apparently 160,000mi really means something...
WOW! Sorry to see that man. Is the only damage at the bottom of the bumper as shown? OR is there damage higher up under the headlight (appears to be some warping)
Hahaha very nice. yeah I defintely cover my asshole when I walk into it. But it's good coffee and ice cream

That sucks man. I have always admired your 540. I have the same year and model, just need to get all my mods done like you have. I hope everything ends up fine. Are you going through insurance? If so I would be interested how much your rates go up.
Just another note...today on the highway the wheel-well liner (visible in 3rd picture) broke off and went under the tire....oops... In any case I am going through insurance and I'll post the increase they'll give me...
