Must Read Guys In Regard To Last Post About My Trans, Must Read
So check this out in regard to my previous about my transmission changing gears by itself. I took my car to one shop and the placed it on the computer and they said I need a
Turk converter. It he just wanted to get me a used tranmisson for about 3 thousand installed. Now I am no Mechanic but I knew this had nothing to do with my transmission since this only happens like once every 2 months. So I took my car to another shop, he didn’t bother to even put it on the computer, cause he sated if the gears are position on s1 it will show something wrong with my transmission. Instead when I told him the problems I was having, he said he would look at the gear selector,he called me this moring and told me I need a new gear selector, it will cost me $450.00 what do you guys think, good price.
But the moral of this story is, becareful what shop you take you are 2, some of them don’t know what the hell they are doing. But you guys let me know if that’s a good price for a gear selector 528i installed.
Replacing a gearshift selector should be pretty straightforward and not more than an hour for sure. It is an electronic module, plug and play. I took mine off and apart when I was running audio cables under the console to my amp in the trunk. You should look into getting the part yourself and DIY if you are confident that is the issue.
