MAF Sensor "Lifespan"?

Anyone know how long the mass airflow sensor is expected to last?
I have 130K, SES light, and lean codes 0171 and 0174. Parts chasing with an item this costly is well, costly, but can't find a leak, and am leaning toward replacing the MAF if the lifespan is around 7 years anyway.

A few things......1st, I would think @ 130k, yes it is very likely that the MAF can be done, 2nd, did you try cleaning it & 3rd, unplugging the MAF provides a good test to see if your MAF is dead. If the engine runs better with the MAF disconnected, it is likely your MAF is not functioning.

Most E39 MAF's don't last nearly that long. They're a very failure-prone part on our cars.

Yea, I cleaned it, twice, w/ electronics cleaner, but thanks for the unplugging tip! I'll try it. It does not really run bad though, just a little rough idle.

Do not buy a cheap version, make sure its a Bosch, or you will find it will need replacing again in the not so distant future.

I replaced the MAF sensor and I am good to go. SES light has not reappeared in 300+ miles. Thanks all!
