LOUD shrieking!

This is a very new issue....

On really cold, or wet days - when i first start the car, i hear an incredibly loud shrieking noise coming from the front of the car. Sounds like its coming from the belts, but i really dont think the belts can make a noise this loud. It can be heard at the end of the street or inside the house even. The noise can be as short as 1 second, or as long as 15 seconds. Then its gone and wont come back until later after it has been sitting cold and / or wet again. Someone mentioned my power steering pump - is this a likely issue??

it could be that or the waterpump bearings another source. Check your coolant make sure you have fluid in there...

on really cold days my power steering pump squeals then stops after it warms up a little, never experianced it on wet days

check the power steering fluid..

its a long shot but check your tension pullies and idle pullys but i have to agree it could be P-steering.

probably pump, but it's hard to know without actually hearing it.

I seriously think its the belts. Check ur belts (timing etc..) IF it isn't the ps

Check the tension on your drive belts, they're just a little loose.
