Has anyone had this problem were the car does not pick up properly ( feels like it loses power ) when you step on the gas and at the same time you hear some kind of pinging / air flow noise from the engine. The engine temp also goes up after a while !!!!!!
Hi there. I had a similar problem with my 1990 525i, the car started fine but as I went along the road the engine started to struggle and the revs would not go above 2000rpm. I pulled over and tried to warm the engine up a little by revving a little but it was still struggling, as though it was going to cut out.
After about 5 mins it started acting normally and I continued without any more problems. I didnt hear any unusual noices though.
I saw one reply to a similar problem saying that the inlet manifold may be cracked
1983 528i wouldn't accelerate as good as usual and started sounding a lot louder than usual, mechanic said it sounded like a truck. The muffler had to be replaced.
