Looking to buy 525 or 528i with over 100,000 miles

Hey everyone, haven't been on this forum in a while (wrecked my poor 318 a year back and got a Saab) but I am looking to sell my 1999 Saab 9-3 in about 6 months and replace it with a '97-00 525i or 528i with over 100,000 miles because I just love those cars but can't really afford anything with under 100,000. My 318iS had 170,000 miles on it before it was crashed so I know any bimmer will last as long as you need it to if you take care of it. Does anyone own a 5 like this with over 100,000? If so, how's it working out for you and how many miles exactly does it have? What have you replaced? And best of all...have you topped it out and if so what speed? Thanks

I own a 528i with 167000 miles on the odometer. I bought it with 85000 a few years ago.
Thus far, I have probably spent more on this car than what a well adjusted reasonable person should spend in repairs. I have replaced the transmission (crappy GM auto), both front wheel bearings, water pump, thermostat and thermostat housing, catalytic converters, A/C compressor, and a few other minor things like the door handle, cup holders, brake rotors, pads, missing wheel hubs that WILL come off if not installed correctly, etc...

Yea, it runs flawlessly now but it came at a price. Sometimes it starts hard but nothing that has me losing sleep over- probably a weak battery.

I really love this car and don't think I could part with it but keep looking. I have topped out at around 140 mph on the Oklahoma turnpike with the wind at my back and it was solid as granite the entire time.

If I were you I would look for one with a manual.

I have a 1998 528i with 5-spd manual trans. It is a pure joy to drive it.

The key thing is search ebay or cars.com under "bmw 5-speed".
It will narrow down to your choice of BMW + 5-speed.
