That little light by the transmission lever..

Hi All,
New to the forum and dont know if this has been brought up before.
I have a 2000 528i with a little over 100K on the clock. The little light bulb that is next to the gear shift lever (automatic) that shows what gear you are in has gone out. How do i replace it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Oh yeah, i am not extremely agile with tools, so if it is alot of work or very involved let me know and I will either blow it off, or have it done next time i bring it in for servicing.

Hiya... Firstly, you should really introduce yourself AND your car in the Newbie section...

From memory you may need to strip the trim off the centre console and investigate a loose wire(s) or connector. If it is anything like my E38 then you may need LOGIC as to what to remove first etc.
But I think the shift surround pops off anyway, so it could be simple !!!
Use a thin edge covered with a little tape (So no scratches) and prise the shift trim away from the console...
Have a look in there...
