key won't start car after battery change

Need some advice...Changed my battery and now the only key that will start the car is the small, grey, valet key (with no chip in it of course). After reading many of these forums I re-initialized my programmed key and now it at least locks/unlocks doors, but if I put it in the ignition and turn it I get nothing. So, I know;

- battery now good
- car runs fine with grey valet key
- can't get car to turn over with "chip" key, even after reinitializing

Any suggestions? Do I need a new key or can the dealer reprogram the one I have? Do I need a new EWS?

thanks for any input that you can give!
