Yep, after searching around for the last month for the right e39 540i 6 spd manual I did a carfax on this one and drove 2 hours to see. Silver, black leather, 84k miles 1998. It was very nice, well kept, and drove so smooth. We went to the sellers bank where it was financed, thinking they could do an appraisal on the car and fax all the info to my bank and we could make the deal right there and drive away, but understanding where the seller was coming from he didn't want to release the car until a check was recieved. So I am meeting him halfway tonight when he gets off work. I will snap some pics and post them up. BTW, some douchebag put the wheel weights on the LIP of the wheels...Oh well as soon as I can I am ordering some 20 inch axis penta wheels anyway.. Sorry for the long happy post!

Anyhoo, I too was irritated at how my wheels were besmirched by 'douchebags' who put the weights on the outer/visible lip of the wheel. Then one day while in the dealer's showroom I was looking at brand new BMWs and noticed that most of them were exactly the same way, so it's probably "the way" BMW does it, to minimize vibration as much as possible. Besides, they aren't there when the weights have to be removed, so what do they care?
I've had mine set up ever since with the weights just behind the center spokes (hidden) and not had any problems.

Thanks for the feedback, the car was about 2 hrs away and the seller got off work at 9 pm so we were going to meet halfway but he called me at 5:30 and claimed that another pharmacist quit so he was going to have to go cover the next shift at another pharmacy and couldn't come this way until next Tuesday. I decided to just drive the whole way and make him fill the tank up. It was worth it, felt great to drive this car 2 hours, almost wanted to drive another 2 but it was midnight when I got home.... I will get some pics up when I get to work....
