I currently own a 1997 528i (E39). And I've been battling the tape deck since I started using my ipod. Unfortunatly, no matter what I do, using the dape deck sacrifices a great deal of sound clarity and volume strength.
So recently a friend explained to me that common in most German cars, in the back of the tape deck there is an audio out that would allow me to go directly from my Ipod to the audio out.
And there lies my dilema, I have glanced over my stereo, and I don't see a good way to remove the tape deck. So I ask all of you, do any of you know first off if there is even an audio out in the back of the tape deck/and or stereo, and if so how do I remove the necessary parts?
One other question I have that has become a problem in the last few weeks is my car alarm. Without any provocation the alarm has been going off. I am sure it's going off well throughout the day, because I hear it plenty at night. Is there a battery that needs to be changed or something? Any ideas?
Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Nick Vedros
There is no aux-in on models prior to either '02 or '01, I can't remember which; regardless, there is no aux-in on a 1997. As far as removing the head unit, if you still want to, check the Business CD Installation article on BMWtips.com under the Tips and Tricks section.
