hello everyone I have a 2002 e39 530i/6. Heres the deal when i turn car off close the door and lock the doors the interior lights turn off shortly after. now the light on the shifter stays lite. Has any one had this kind of problem? I had battery AND ALT. CHECKED. what had me check these is something was killing my battery. then I Noticed the light.
Wayne, Obviously something is staying on and draining your battery.
1. You can check the cigarette lighter (remove it and don't put it back on to verify).
2. Check your glove box interior light. The light was staying on with the glove box compartment closed in my case.
3. Check the trunk lock and make sure the light is not staying on when closed.
The light on the shifter should stay on for a bout 10-15 minutes and then it turns itself off.
My 02 E46 shifter light stays on for about 15 minutes as well so I doubt that is what is draining your battery....also, it is an LED so there is minimal amps needed to keep it lit....
hers the problem: so did research for hour last night. came accross some info. so i thought i will check final stage unit. now its 30-40 degress in my garage. so i got down to part, touched it and it was burning hot. after being parked for 10 plus hours. seems to be a coomon problem. now is there a better place to get it less the dealer?
