my dad just passed on his 1985 535i on to me (im 16) and the mechanicals are in good shape except for a leak in the cold start injector. The person who owned it before us lived in florida and let the leather crack in the heat. I want to put some seat covers in it but i cant get the armrests off to put the covers on. a little help?

First off, to the forums. I am also 16 and also have a 535i (mine's an '87 with 250+k mailes on it). If you like to work on your own car I would definately recomend getting a Bentley manual. It will tell you how to do just about everything. Also, you might consider redying the seats (lookup Leatherique) rather than putting a cheesy seat cover on. Sorry for not directly answering your question, but hope that helps.

Yea, ripped leather I guess is a problem. If your dash is cracked and faded (as mine is) using an armorall type product can really make the dash look good, but you still have all the nasty cracks. That's why I ordered a coverlay (part # 21535, at BavAuto). Good luck with your interior upgrades.
