I just checked with my insurance at GEICO, and they said it'd cost me about 200 bucks a month to insure a 1995 540i. I'm 19, without any accidents or traffic violations, and I've been driving for a little over two years.
unreasonable.. geico and progressive suck ass for younger drivers...
find a local place that will do all the work for you to find you insurance, that's what I did. I used a place here called argonne agency that did all the work for free and got me hooked up with deerbrook which is a sub company of all-state. I pay just over 100 a month for full insurance on my bimmer with 1 accident and no on record tickets

Holy crap. 100 bucks a month for full coverage on a BMW? That's only 30 bucks a month for the minimum I pay for my current ride -- a smoking 240SX. Whoo!
I also live in San Diego, so that's probably a noticable spike compared to other states.
How did you find this local place? I have no idea where to look.
I don't know about san diego, but there are probably local agencies that will do this.. they get paid by insurance companies to sell their policies... I'd look in the yellow pages. try to contact deerbrook insurance agency if you can..18003337276 is the number I believe...

Hey man, thanks for the promptness of this reply. I really appreciate it.
I can definitely afford this car, and I'm purchasing it from an ideal owner -- an older, asian woman who paid 43 grand for it back in 98.
I was all psyched up to get it, but when GEICO told me I'd be paying more than the monthy payment to own the car, to insure it, I about died.
I know how that shit is, trust me. There are always better alternatives out there for insurance. Not to mention deerbrook's claims are delt with by all state which rocks... I got keyed last summer, went down to the claims office and walked out with an 1800 check lol

1800 dollars? Haha. That's enough for a pretty decent paintjob.
I know rates do vary among states even cities within the state itself. Depending on which state; in my case when joining AAA as a member I was entitled to a substantial discount offered by mid-atlantic ins. (affiliation with AAA type of a deal) Last year I was paying $1800 with another co. This year it is $1200 on bimmer, $1500 on the Jeep.
Does not hurt to check if this is applicable in your home state

What kind of BMW are you driving? "
I'm driving a 95 325i...
yeah I took the money and put it torwards bills though... most of the keying wasn't even that bad lol.. funny thing is, after claiming this my insurance dropped and it's dropped every period since.

I was thinking about getting a 5-series with a smaller engine, but the 6 speed transmission and a powerful V8 is just too appealing. I'm going to call around and see what kind of insurance I can get. Thanks for the prompt responses, guys. I appreciate it.
