Hey how are you guys doing? I'm new to this site because I just bought a 528i automatic...I really don't know anything about the car or about bmw period. my first one and I'm not feeling lucky, though I love the car.
Ok, I bought the car about 3 weeks ago and only had it about a week
the rest of the time the mechanic had it because one day on my way to work the car over heated and blew the head. luckily the car is under a 2 month warranty from the dealer. I paid a little over 9G's for the car, I think I made a big mistake I need advice '97 528i with (174k miles)..
the mechanic hooked it on to the machine and it came up with some sensors being messed up including the crank sensor..and the AC compressor rattles too
after 2 weeks being held up I go to pick up my car today and test drove it with the guy and on the highway it had this loud whining noise like the more i hit the gas the faster the fan went along with the speed, almost sounded like a truck very loud. since the dealer has they're own mechanic I think they're BS.ing me..i know for a fact is a used head..and i feel like after the warranty is done the car is going to get worst. i put $2500 down and i asked him if he wants to call it even and give me my money back so he offered $1700 back..so going back to test driving it..he tells me now its the fan clutch and the ac compressor is messed up that he needs another day (when he told me earlier today that the car was ready)..this is so stupid and I'm pissed and i need to know if this is worth it at all or if I should take him to court.
your advice would be appreciated
Thanks, -Leo
If he offered 1700 back he will give you the 2500.00. Because he will spend alot more than that fixing the car under waranty. If he gives you a hard time tell him you will call a lawyer and inform yourself of your rights. 9k for a car with 174k on it what were you thinking?
I have no idea man...before i bought the car i looked up online and they were people who had the same car with more miles and said it ran great and they last forever..so i took the chance
A couple of things, to get the worst out of the way, who knows why it overheated but a lot of dealers would say the car just got hot, you ruined it by driving it hot and blew the motor. They would say heres a new hose, have a nice day. So I would be calm and not too demanding. But of course it very possible the head was bad first, but how to prove it?
I don't think any lawyer will help you, in fact a lawyer would tel the dealer to blow you off.
2Anyway if you mean they financed it and you can back out and only lose what $800? I would make that you instant fall back position, as in; try for more but don't spoil the deal
Take the money and RUN. great if you get more as was suggested, but you are on very thin ice. NO ONE is going to fix this car adequtely, it is a parts car, its doomed (sorry I assume you are discussing a 97 525) Get out with as much as you can but GET OUT and try again
I just bought a 530, 01 ,way more valuable, with 139k but with premium, sport,NAV, shades, garaged etc for 9000$ and I wish I'd payed 7500$
Next time post BEFORE you buy and don't let this ruin you on bimmers
expect to look for 3 months before you find a deal
We'll be glad to help
Good luck
