I just bought a 2004 545i and when I select communication and phone, I get a message that says. phone not installed. I was told by the dealer that the car did have BT.


How can I verify that it does? and if it does not, what is the cost to get it and how hard is it to intall...

Under Communication, you should have an iDrive option for Bluetooth. If nothing appears, go back to the dealer, tell them it ain't so, and have them give you your options.

Subsequently, on another board, I learned that 2004 models, starting with April 2004 production, usually have the bluetooth hardware installed, but most of the time it is not activated. There is a BMW technical service bulletin (TSB) that references how to have it enabled. I would contact your dealer about this.
