superdeadman has a spectacular aura about

when i'm trying to start the car, it starts and the rpm needle goes below idle right away, and the car shuts off. If i start it up and press gas right away, it'll keep working as long as i won't let go. Anyone knows what may be a problem?
my guess is it's an idle air sensor, but i may be wrong.
Anybody experienced the same thing before???
