I was out of town with my family for a week. We left the 540 parked in the garage, and I must say I was like that lady in that Porsche Cayenne commercial in how I yearned to get back behind the wheel. Upon our return Sunday, I had to first finish my valve cover gasket replacement project (drivers side this time, no real issues, very easy now). After completing the cam cover gasket change-out, I took 'er out for a glorious 79-miles jaunt! I must confess the DSC was switched off a couple of times.
Anyways, just wanted to say that after just over a month of ownership, I've grown attached to my 5, a feeling I am certain is shared by readers of this forum...

Just looking at that long list of your cars (past and present) I cann't help it but to say you do have a special taste. I noticed each car you had echoed its own time and took its right place. The bimmer? Looks like it sits at the top of your pyramid.
enjoy

Eric,
Welcome back!
I believe you and I purchased our 540's on or near the same day. (Oct. 28th)
I too could not wait to get back in the car, especially after seven days on a ship. Great vacation ... but would have had just as much fun taking a road trip somewhere. Not complaining though...any vacation is better than work!
I told my wife last evening that I have not had this much fun driving and owning a car in a long time... I've been driving "legally" for 21 years.
Anyway, enjoy the ride and Happy Turkey Day a few days late!
Jim - Thanks for the well-wishes! I actually bought my car on October 18th, but was just rounding down when I said one month! As mentioned, I finished my valve cover gasket and spark plug change-out and then wouldn't you know it, my maintenance indicator went from "green" to "yellow" for inspection service today. MAN, can't this car just hold on and let me sort it out on MY terms?!? ghead Oh well, no biggie, just a lot of little stuff.
TTYL,
Eric
