There is a clear humming/whistling sound coming from the front passenger side when my 2000 528 sport package reaches between 75-80 mph. This noise is very minimal at other speed. I'm not sure how old are those Continental tires since I bought the car used last August but they are still in good condition. The sound gets louder when I let off the gas. The master tech @ BMW dealer test drove it, inspected it and suggested switching to another brand of tire. He said that it's common road noise associating with the Conti tires and there's nothning wrong with the car mechanically. Any suggestion is appreciated? Should I take it to another dealer for a second inspection? Thank you. Chad
it wouldn't make much sense of it being a tire, since you said it gets louder when you lift off. even when you do lift off the gas, you are still going aproximatelly the same speed +/- 3% maybe.
i am thinking a tiny tiny exhaust leak somewhere...
