This maybe a greenhorn question but I was looking to get the I-pod connection and it says that I cannot have the premium audio OR the DSC digi system...
I have the 01 530i and it has the BMW "buisness" audio... I dont think thats the premium... isnt it harmen Kartmen? Also, how do I tell is I have the DSC?
i have no idea what premium audio is, but DSP is a bitch option that limits all the aftermarket parts you can put on your stock radio.
basically, the easy way to tell is look at your radio, on the right side, it should have a button that says audio... if this same button also says DSP - you got it!
if you press it, and you'll see your option changing (sounds like you're in a hall, open air, room, under water... etc) then you got dsp cuz that's what it does.
also, it was like a $1000 option

Wait...DSC ? you ask?
That stands for Dynamic Stability Control
It is wheel traction control from slipping. Nothing to do with audio.
On my 02' 525i, DSC button is located at very bottom next to heated seat button.

You need to read up on your facts and figures some more. DSP (Digital Signal Processor) is the ultimate Audio sound system that was available for the E39 cars as an option.
DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) is not connected to the audio as you clearly understand but deals with the traction control.
