Hello everyone. I'm hoping some of you might be able to share your honest opinion and/or experience with me. Obviously everyone here is a BMW fan, but I'm hoping for some unbiased feedback. I'm thinking about buying a 2004-2006 5 Series (flexible on model depending on price and mileage).
Can anyone tell me what kind of problems I can expect to have with this vehicle after 60,000 miles? Most of them out there in my price range are already beyond the 50,000 mile point and I'm worried about the upkeep that will be needed. I've never owned a BMW and I don't know anyone who has, so I'm basing my reliability knowledge on Consumer Reports which I hate doing.
Any experience-based information you can provide is EXTREMELY appreciated.
So after I posted this I did a search and found many similar threads. Sorry for the duplication. I also noticed that most everyone on here has nothing but good things to say about the BMW as I would expect. Thanks for all the previous input...I think I'll find the answers to my questions in other threads.

German engineering will always be fun and superior over the others, however, it is also true that they DO REQUIRE periodic maintenance to run problem-free. So, just take care of your car and it will take care of you. Also, the 5-series has always been a reliable model.
