How long can you go between timing belt changes? I drive about 70% highway which is very easy driving and I see that the interval is 50K for timing belt changes? Has anyone ever gone over that without problems? I know that BMW is not like other cars just seems so soon to replace a timing belt. Thanks allot for any info.
The timing belt is a fairly easy job and I believe BMW says 4 years or 50,000 miles. Most other makes are recommended at 60,000. I personally think 50k is a bit low, but you should probably still follow that interval as the m20 is an interference engine.
Wait, is that your car in your avatar?
If you didnt do a wide grill conversion, it's either a 94 530i or 540i, and if thats the case you don't have a timing belt.
