Unlile most though mine hasn't been looked after aswell as it should. The previous owned only serviced it about 3 times at a BMW dealer in 100,000Miles (when I got it).
Judging by the state of the spark plugs I reckon they might have been the origionals! It still ran and sounded fine and didn't smoke. I guess this is a testiment to how well they are built!
We survived Hurricane Dennis (and Ivan in September 2004) and we have ordered the new tranny. I expect that we will be over 400,000 miles before this time next year.
374,000? God damnit you got me beat by 100,000 miles. And I thougth I was a proud high mileage BMW. We'll see. My invincible m20 shall take me over the 400 grand mark!

As soon as she gets back from the shop with her new tranny I will post some pics.

Who's your service guy? I go to the independent BMW/Mercedes service shop on Prosperity Ave. in Merrifield, right outside the beltway.
BTW, I'm up over 148,000 now. Lots of miles over the course of this past month when I drove to New Orleans and back, then Chicago and back! :-)
126k, needs new pads and possibly some rotors, otherwise, older couple owned it, daily driver type car. never missed an oil change, have the original book. Friend bought it with 112k, put 14k on it in about a year, and I bought it.
I totally agree that we have gotten full value for our money from our Bimmer. My goal is 1 million miles. I was inspired to this goal buy the Volvo High Mileage Club -- I had a Volvo 145 with 450,000+ miles on it when my ex-wife totalled it. The Volvo club actually had mileage honor badges you could purchase for the grill of your car. When I got my first BMW (84 318i) I realized how much better built the BMW was than the Volvo and decided that if I got a 5 series I could easily take it to 1 million miles. My wife is even asking when we are going to get it back on the road and "piling on the mileage"

LMAO!!! It's great to hear you have managed to get that much miles out of your bimmer!!! It's actually encouraging...!! I'm about to cross the 200,000KM barrier...a little excited and worried at the same time!
